The controller is the brain of a CNC system. It connects mechanical components to the computer system of a CNC machine.
The controller takes input from the CNC control panel. It converts the electrical signals into mechanical motion to get the desired motor movement. The CNC control panel constantly monitors and adjusts the speed and position of the machine.

There are 3 types of controllers:
1) Axis Control CNC Systems
There are 4 types of axis control CNC systems:
● 2-Axis: The controller grants access to only 2 axes.
● 3-Axis: The CNC machine operates in 3 dimensions—X, Y, and Z
● 4-Axis: The machine works in all 3 dimensions including 1 additional axis for extra rotation
● 5-Axis: The machine works in all 3 dimensions including 2 additional axes for extra rotation2) Motion Control CNC Systems
There are 2 types of motion control CNC systems:
● Point-to-Point Control System: Represent the lowest level of motion control
